Rosario is the mining town that boasted “El tajo” gold mine which once was the richest gold mine in the World. Due to large mining activities its present church was moved from its former site to save it from sinking.
On these days, you can visit the former site and witness great effort of “ El Rosario” people for keeping its church for ever.
Nuestra Señora del Rosario church is where you will see a 24 kt gold leaf altar. “El Rosario” is hometown of Lola Beltrán, Famous mariachi singuer who past a way 12 year ago. Besides, these attractions “El Rosario” features Iguanero lagoon, Spanish Cementery and mining and “Lola Beltrán” museums.
El Rosario has an excellent cuisine based on seafood and pre-hispanic gastronomy. Don´t miss this opportunity, go for it.
Chametla is out of El Rosario, which is a prehispanic settlement inhabited by totorames (natives) before spaniards conquered these territories. Here plenty vestigies are displayed in the archaelogical museum.
